Just across the Oklahoma boarder twelve miles southwest of
Joplin sits a road known to locals as Spooklight Road. Since the 1800's people
have reported seeing a mysterious ball of light that appears and moves around
throughout the area surrounding Spooklight road. I've been to the area several
times in hopes to catch a glimpse of the Spooklight, but always turned up empty
handed. Even though you might not get to see the Spooklight, there are some
really cool areas that provide great photo opportunities.
On one of my many trips to Spooklight road something caught
my eyes, graffiti on the road. It looked cool, but at first I was wondering what
I could do with it. I decided to do some long exposures of passing cars with
the graffiti also in the frame, I was pleased with the end result.
Every time I go out to the Spooklight I can't help but think of old 70's and 80's horror movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Because of that, I used Photoshop to give it that look and feel of a 80's horror movie.
Here are some additional pictures that I took while there.
The location where Hoffman's Mansion once stood. This location is said to be haunted and is near Spooklight Road.
